I’ve been sitting on this post for a while. There have been a lot of things and artists that have come into my life and inspired me to keep going, especially creatively. I do need to do a better job at talking more about a couple of artists on this list, but that’s why I’m sharing this one. Coming up on the 10th anniversary of Muzik Junqie (January 2026), I have definitely done a lot of reflecting.

Luke Christopher
I feel like I saw his music video for “Ms. Holy Water” on TV and that’s what made me look more into him and his music. Most of his music was on Soundcloud at the time, so I spent a lot of time discovering music there. I’ve had the opportunity to see him Live, when he opened up for Hoodie Allen. Somehow I managed to get barricade and we had some cute interactions throughout his set.
You couldn’t tell me I wasn’t a proud fan that night. Unfortunately, though, I missed my opportunity to meet him that night, and I have regretted it heavily since. But I am still so proud of him, and still support everything that comes out. I’ll get my chance to see him again one day 😊
Maurice Moore
Music Crush! Maurice Moore Shows Us What Season it is with New Project the Amber Room!
I think I saw him for the first time on RnBass’ social media, either on Snapchat or IG. It didn’t take much to make me a fan. He remains a breath of fresh air to me and my playlist to this day. The day I finally get to see this man in person, I will probably cry LOL.
This is because I have felt a stronger connection to Maurice and his music from the very beginning. It’s not on some obsessive ‘ish, I promise plus he’s been very supportive of me, as well. I go to his music when nothing else makes me feel anything, or I’m sad, or just in one of those weird moods I have a hard time describing, and I don’t know what to listen to. His music has provided comfort over these last several years, and for that, I am truly thankful to be a fan, and to have been a fan from the very beginning.
K-Pop (aka Monsta X)
For K-Pop, I remember hearing BTS and Blackpink on the radio, so that was my first taste of K-Pop. And I think after that, I came across one of my Favorite R&B singers, Elhae, collaborating with I.M. of Monsta X for a new single. I believe that led to me looking up Monsta X, not knowing what they looked like, only listening to the most recent album ‘We Are Here’. Then I went to YouTube for music videos, watched “Hero”, decided Jooheon/ Joohoney was my Bias, and it’s been down the rabbit hole ever since.
All of that also led to me finding out that Monsta X was on tour that same summer, buying a ticket, and buying my first light stick (link to video below). I still had no idea what I had gotten into LOL. Then the Wonho controversy happened, then Covid in 2020… Shownu would soon leave for his military enlistment, and I would finally be able to see Monsta X in concert, as 5, in 2022. THAT was A LOT.
But here we are, 2025, and I am still just as in love with their music and them, as I was when I first found them. I am also anxiously awaiting a World Tour announcement as we speak lol. We, unfortunately, will be missing I.M. for this one, though, because he is the last one required to enlist into the military. But, we’ve been here before, and even though I will miss him (my Bias Wrecker) horribly, I know the guys will do their best to put on a show and include him and his likeness as much as possible.
Wrestling (WWE and Growing)
This is a very interesting one to me, not to say that the others aren’t. But I found my way back to Wrestling around the end of 2023. I don’t think I realized how special it was until it helped bring me joy after my grandmother passed away that November. My other favorite things were not helping me, and somehow Wrestling filled in the gap. A couple of things led to me finding my way back (somehow).
One, was seeing the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on a random, possibly recent, video on YouTube. Then, two, Roman and The Usos randomly popped up more frequently on my Tumblr. That made me curious to see what they were all up to, so I started watching Raw and Smackdown again. The rest has been history.
Formula 1
This origin story seems a little simpler lol. I was reading something about Lewis Hamilton and decided to check out the race weekend that was coming up. I had never watched Formula 1 before, only hearing about it. I, of course, knew who Lewis was because of his presence in the pop culture/ fashion side of things.
Obviously, I am still a HUGE Lewis Hamilton fan and supporter, even though it’s been tough to see him having a rough time on his dream team. But it’s still amazing to watch him navigate all of this, as he nears the tail end of his career.
Final Thoughts!
All of those things/ people mentioned above, have 1 thing in common. They have all gotten me out of tough times in my life. They have become more than a distraction, but a part of me, and a reminder of how special being a Fan of things and people can be. Even though some people out there use it to tease or bully us, for whatever reason (they’re miserable individuals), it doesn’t make it any less special.
