5 of My Favorite Athletes Who Have Made Music!

As I am getting back into watching sports on the regular, like I used to, while trying to find new music to listen to, I realized something. Some of my favorite Eps/ albums/ or projects have been made by former or current athletes, at least (somewhat) recently. The 5 athletes I will be mentioning in this post were the first ones that come to mind. I may end up doing more of these because I know there are so many more.

I have also done posts on some of these, so check out the links I’ve included 🙂

Tobe Nwigwe

When I first wrote about Tobe, there wasn’t a lot of information about him out at the time. But this was 5-6 years ago. Basically, Tobe was a start line-backer at the University of North Texas, before a foot injury ended his future in the sport, causing him to pursue music. My boyfriend is the one who put me onto him, and I have been a fan ever since. And it’s even crazier that he recently is featured on a song on Justin Timberlake’s newest album; my favorite track on there by the way, “Sanctified”.

Arian Foster aka Bobby Feeno

Former NFL player Arian Foster is one of my favorites from when he played for the Houston Texans. He dropped one of my favorite mixtapes to date. It was a sad moment when he retired. But I remember being so excited when I finally got to listen to his music.

Montez Ford

With my recent jump back into the WWE, I had to add Montez Ford, ½ of the Tag team, the Street Profits. He has dropped 2 projects this year, and both are amazing. Montez is a talented story-teller and has a smooth delivery. You can tell he has fun creating this music.

I am also a huge fan of most of the younger wrestlers’ entrance music, so it obviously plays a huge role in WWE, as well.

Rikishi

Another WWE mention, but this time with the legendary, hall of famer Rikishi Fatu (father of Jimmy and Jey Uso, and Solo Sikoa; uncle of Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu, and Zilla Fatu, to name a few). He has been a Hip Hop head his entire life, and it showed up a lot during his career. But Rikishi has been releasing some music recently, so you know I had to include him in this list.

He also has a podcast called ‘Rikishi Off the Top’

Lewis Hamilton aka XNDA

This is the most recent discovery for me. Knowing who Lewis Hamilton not FULLY understanding who he is, is why we are here lol. Lewis’ celebrity is so much more than being one of the most talented, winningest, highest paid Formula 1 drivers. He has his hand in fashion, alcohol (non-alcoholic tequila drink), charity work, etc…

And to add to that, he makes music. So far, I have only found his feature on Christina Aguilera’s ‘Liberation’ album from 2018, and a YouTube video from one of his Lives where he played some music he had been working on. I see fans ask him all the time when he is going to drop new music, but he usually says “I’m working on it”. He’s busy, so obviously lol.
