FanGirl Update! More Solo Music from One Direction Members!

Growing up being a fan of boy-bands definitely shaped me into the FanGirl that I am today. Some of them are still very active but I have enjoyed watching the new generation of boy groups do their thing, especially One Direction. If you have been following me, you know that I am a fan of the boys as a group and have been supporting them in their solo careers. Seeing the boys do so much individually has been exciting and I am here to catch you up on some of it 🙂

What Do I Think of Harry Styles’ New Album?

Let me start by saying that I have always called Harry my little rock star. His rock influences have been obvious since he was in One Direction, especially on their last album together Made in the A.M.. It was reflected in his style and the way he moved on stage. This album brings out all of that and more and I couldn’t be more excited for him.

The album is self-titled (of course) and it is full of Pop/ Rock tracks. As I started listening to it, I couldn’t pick a favorite song or songs. That is, until I got to “Woman”. This song is such a funky, soulful record and it kind of caught me off guard. But it is definitely a favorite of mine.

But overall I have to say that it is truly an amazing record. It makes me love Harry even more than I already did. It’s so refreshing compared to everything else that is out there. Harry’s voice is so calming and relaxing. I could listen to him sing all day.

I will be adding this album to my list of music that I go to when I need to chill and calm my nerves. Also, on top of all of the press and appearances, Harry will be embarking on a tour for this album. I really wish I could go and see him perform this music live. He is coming to Texas ( I believe) but it’s bad timing for me 🙁 But it’s okay, I know I’ll get another chance to see him.

Check out Harry’s video for his single “Sign of the Times” 🙂

Liam Payne Drops Debut Single!

So, we finally get some music from Liam. After Zayn, I was anxious for Liam to release something, especially after a song leaked with him and Juicy J. He has always had a Pop/ R&B vibe, even while in One Direction. And to be honest, this song did not surprise me at all.

He has been doing a lot of promo lately and it’s awesome to see along with the fact that he has been getting good feedback. Let’s get to the song though… It’s called “Strip That Down” and it features Quavo (from Migos). I really like the song and even though I am not the biggest fan of the Migos, but I love Quavo’s features for some reason. Of course I love Liam so this was definitely a win-win. The song is a mix of Pop/ Hip-Hop/ and R&B. It’s a dance track and bery catchy, a legit single for radio and live performances. But certain lyrics really caught my attention:

“You know, I used to be in 1D (now I’m out, free)… People want me for one thing (that’s not me)… I’m not changing, the way, that I (used to be)… I just wanna have fun (and get rowdy)”

Of course people are saying that it’s a shot at 1D. But it may not be. Everything doesn’t have to be shade thrown at someone. Artists express their true feelings in music .And when people always put you in a box because of a certain part of your life of course you’re going to say something about it. But I’m proud of “Payno” and look forward to more music from him.

Niall Horan Gives Us a 2nd Single!

So, Niall has dropped another single, much different from the last one, “This Town”. The song is called “Slow Hands” and it’s a bit more upbeat. I really love his voice on this song. And the music itself is really great, still with that acoustic vibe.

It’s actually a pretty sexy song. You could say that it’s a fun love song with some sex appeal. It’s crazy to see and hear Niall like this because I’m used to him being so goofy and clumsy with the guys. But he has really grown a lot and sounds amazing. I can’t wait to hear more from him.

Take a look at the lyric video for this song here…

Maybe people will finally take the boys seriously as solo artists and separate them from the group. The music that the boys made together was not bad and they have always been talented. But everyone just has this messed up perception about boy-bands. You don’t have to be a pre-teen or teenager to enjoy their music. If it’s not your cup of tea then cool but don’t judge those who actually enjoy it.
