Artists You May Not Have Heard Of But Should Really Check Out!

The artists/ producers I’m about to talk to you guys about today are people that I follow and interact with on social media, especially Twitter. I, honestly, do my best to check out the music/projects of everyone who follows me or I follow them. It is hard to keep up with it all but I do what I can. Most of the time, though, I’m pleasantly surprised with how amazing they are and I try to keep up with them.

As a music fan, I think it’s important to check out artists who are new, up and coming, and not as well known. All of the huge musicians that we fan over already have a ton of promotion already. These newer artists sometimes have to depend on their fans for a little extra promo because they don’t have a record label behind them. I love watching these artists grow and people embrace them, seeing what I see.

*I mainly want to focus on their music and how you can check them out for yourself… So no long Bios today, maybe next time*

The Homie… ThaniaBear

So, I definitely wanted to start off this post with someone who has definitely become a friend of mine. Nathania or Natty or ThaniaBear, whichever one works lol, is an amazing and creative artist who I met on Twitter. He is a 20-something who plays guitar and makes dope music like what I’m going to insert below. I love how unique his sound is compared to a lot of other music that’s out there right now.

I even played this particular track called “Growth” to one of my songwriter/producer friends and he was really feeling it. I think he started following him right after too lol. Anytime I get a chance to share new music with anyone who’s willing to listen, I’m excited to do it. You guys should know that about me by now 🙂

This song is so crazy and I love it! I’m almost getting some video game soundtrack vibes. I’ve been a gamer most of my life so I guess that’s why 🙂 But there are so many different musical elements to this one track that it’s hard to not keep your mind interested. It’s like you want to know which direction it’s going to take or when it’ll switch up. I’m really proud of Nat and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him and his music.

The Wildcard… Ferris

So, when it comes to Ferris here, it started when he followed me on Twitter few days ago. I had some free time on my hands so I checked out his most recent tracks. Those tracks led me to look up whatever EPs he had and lucky for me he had 3 of them just from this year: Prey-EP, Yellow Fellow-EP, and I Was Wrong – EP. Simply, I was blown away.

20 year old Ferris is a Singer/Rapper/Producer/Fitness Trainer/Entertainer. He is categorized as Rap/ Hip Hop which he is but he’s also so much more than that. He reminds of Blackbear mixed with a little Eminem (b/c of his rhyming skills, not his skin color) all of the new Hip Hop that’s mixed with EDM and Rock a bit. But he’s still super unique and crazy talented. I love his voice and his flow on everything.

I really love that video; he keeps it all the way real (and he’s pretty cute too). Honestly, if I would have looked at his videos before listening to his music, I would not have thought he was a Hip Hop artist or could flow as good as he does. And that is why we should all stop judging a book by its cover, especially when it comes to music. I guess we are still guilty of associating certain looks with certain genres of music. But, what matters is that he’s dope and you should check him out!

Wax the Producer

Ramon aka Wax the Producer is a songwriter/ producer/audio engineer out of Tacoma, WA (childhood friend of & similar to Sodtp mentioned below). I first heard of Wax from following Silas because they do music together so they would usually be together when Silas went Live on IG or something, which was awesome. I’ve been following him since. Recently, he dropped an EP called 4play-List, Vol. 1.

This 6 track project is definitely an R&B record for the more grown & sexy crowd; or just for anyone who’s into that real late night vibe really. I really do like the whole EP, especially when I’m looking for a chill vibe once I’m home and done running around for the day. “Bag on a Bag” and “Sleep Over” are definitely my favorites, though. Just go and give Wax a listen when you get a chance.

Silas aka Sodtp aka #TwitterFam

I saved Silas for last because I have already talked about him a couple of times before. So, this will be more of an update on him. Other than him just being random and hilarious on Twitter and Snapchat, he has been working on lots of new music. He has even giving us a peak into his studio process on Snapchat.

He dropped another song called “Second Hand” which is such a dope R&B song. It’s such a simple but deep, and amazingly arranged track (just like everything else he does). And the guitar at the end is crazy! He’s been teasing us with all of these amazing single releases to lead up to his full project #WYLTMMT (Will You Listen to my MixTape?) that will be coming out some time next month.
