Bas Drops New Album Milky Way, After a Two Year Break Since Last Album! (Music Review)

It’s been two and a half years since Bas released his last album Too High to Riot. I actually did a review on it; click here to check it out! And to be honest, I didn’t even know that Bas had a new album coming out until I saw the video for his single “Tribe” with J.Cole. That song won me over instantly and so did the video; I’ve been listening to that song non-stop since.

This album and meaning of it’s title, in Bas’ words:

“This album is about finding ground. About not poisoning your own well. About finding and tethering yourself to the love that truly fulfills you. Love of self. Love of others. Lovers. Family. Friends. Fans. You’ve all given me all the affirmation I’ll ever need. That is the Milky Way. The only way to go.”

Milky Way Review

Seeing Bas and Cole together is such an awesome thing. But, let’s get to this album, Milky Way, how amazing it is, and the fact that I cannot stop listening to it! Let’s start with the first track “Icarus” that features another Dreamville artist Ari Lennox. Her voice is magical on this song and Bas does his thing with heavy-hitting verses and soothing chorus.

Before I continue, I have to say that a lot of the songs are very relatable, whether you are in a relationship or not. I say that to talk about the track “Front Desk”, basically about not needing for your significant other to check in when they go out. Another dope feature is A$AP Ferg on “Boca Raton”. I’m a fan of the A$AP Mob so their style mixed with Bas, is the perfect collab.

Another great collaboration on this album is with LION BABE on the track “Rockets”. But some other tracks that I really like are “Purge”, “Fragrance” with the catchy and hypnotizing melody, for me anyway. The whole album is great and I am really happy that he came back with hits after being gone for 2 years since his last album dropped. I really want this album to speak for itself so I don’t want to prolong this review.

Let me know what you guys think! 🙂
