Looks like there has been so much to talk about when it comes to Justin Timberlake. I think it started when Justin was picked to perform at the Super Bowl (still upsetting a lot of Janet Jackson fan because of the boob debacle). Then we got the new album announcement and tour dates released. Once all of that was out, Justin was releasing a new and video every week leading up to the album release.
Man of the Woods
Of this album was highly anticipated, besides the fact that Justin hadn’t dropped an album in years. I was definitely one of those people, but not just because of Justin but who he was working with for this album; Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, and Chad Hugo (NERD). And I’m pretty sure that I wasn’t the only one who was a little thrown off by the title Man of the Woods. But if you really think about it, he is from Tennessee so he’s a country boy.
There are some songs that I don’t love but may learn to the more I listen to it. What I can say, though, is that I love the storytelling vibe on this album, even on the songs that haven’t grown on me yet. He still has the same Pop/ R&B/ Soul sound like the rest of his music but he added a country twang to it. You can definitely hear the Timbaland and Pharrell influence on the songs.
Some of my favorite songs, other than what already came out, are “Midnight Summer Jam”, “Wave”, “Morning Light”, and “Montana”. What automatically made me love “Midnight Summer Jam” is the opening where he says “… Ya’ll can’t do better than this… Act like the South ain’t the sh**…”; I’m from the South so, I mean, I had to LOL. “Wave” gave me those dope Pharrell, NERD vibes that I love. “Morning Light” is amazing because of Alicia Keys of course and “Montana” is a favorite because I was not expecting it, giving me 20/20 Experience sounds.
Check out the video for “Say Something” featuring Chris Stapleton… This is one of my favorite songs…
Was His Performance Just Another Super Bowl Halftime?
Let’s start with the fact that a lot of people thought that there was no way that Justin was going to be performing by himself. The assumption was that he was going to bring out Janet Jackson to make up for the controversy when they did the halftime show together. Some people even thought that there was going to be an NSYNC reunion (of course). Both of those theories were shut down pretty quick.
Now, I will admit that I was pretty excited to see this performance because it’s huge and Justin had been teasing some rehearsal footage leading up to it. And Justin has always been an amazing performer so of course I had high hopes. I don’t want to say that it was a letdown but some parts were a little disappointing. Do ya’ll know hard it is for me to say that?
One of my favorite parts of his performance was what he did while on the stage which allowed him and his crew to perform on either side. He can still dance and keep up with his amazing dancers. I also really liked his tribute to Prince, being that the Super Bowl was in Prince’s hometown. But that dedication still caused some drama because Prince had mentioned in an interview his dislike for using technology to perform with someone who was no longer alive.
Check out his Halftime performance here and let me know what you guys think…
If you like drama, there’s apparently more to the story… Check out this TMZ article here: < http://www.tmz.com/2018/02/05/prince-heres-why-fans-are-pissed-at-justin-timberlake/ >

Final Thoughts!
I have already talked about how upset I was about the ticket prices for the Man of the Woods tour and the fact that he’s not coming to Louisiana. It’s so much more than that for me, though, but I still feel like it’s hard to really put into words. I can say that I have completely given up on seeing him on this tour. With that said, I feel like I am growing out of Justin, the day I never thought would come.
NSYNC and Justin were such a huge part of my life, and I would do anything and everything I could to see them/ him. But the older I get, the more I’m okay with not spending a paycheck on concert tickets and whatever else. I have new favorites who I am willing to do more for but it’s more of a support thing since a lot of them aren’t nearly as big as Justin (yet). I will continue to be a fan of Justin’s music but my support will probably stop there, as of right now anyway.
