So many things have been happening in the world of One Direction. Last week in particular, Directioners were dealing with the hashtag #OneDirectionIsOverParty and Liam Payne announcing his new solo career.
Liam signed a music deal with Capitol Records UK and earlier today it was officially announced that he also inked a deal with Doyen Global who is a leading company in sports and entertainment, working with superstars Neymar Jr. and David Beckham to name a couple. Apparently, Liam is helping them launch their new music division which is huge.
Now, with Liam making those announcements, Zayn pretty much long gone and doing his thing with RCA (stop calling him a bad boy please!), Harry Styles having signed a deal with Colombia Records, and Louis Tomlinson supposedly starting his own label under Simon Cowell’s Syco label; it’s easy to see how many people would think One Direction is over.
But as a fan of the boys and a music fan period, I am unsure how to take all of this. None of the boys have officially come out to say “We are never getting back together” which can be a good sign but then again, NSYNC just stopped, not saying anything about an official “breakup” leaving us to still hope for a reunion tour at least.
Things have been a bit different for 1D though especially since Zayn left last year and officially released music definitely making a name for himself. I honestly would love to see the other 4 make one more run of it before calling it quits, mainly for the heartbroken fans who are still very supportive and not bitter about everything that has happened so far. At the same time, I am excited to see what Harry and Liam do on their own. Harry is still working on his 1st movie and Liam’s signature is still pretty fresh on his new music deal. Also, Niall Horan seems to be enjoying his time on the golf course (Good for you Niall!) and at different music events.
At the end of the day, I am happy for all 5 of the boys and wish them the best of luck in whatever path they decided to take in their lives or careers. I honestly think the boys will be fine but a lot of the fans need to chill and have a seat. I understand the heartbreak, trust me, but they are people who have lives outside of all of this, and they don’t deserve to be attacked for the choices they decided to make. They gave a huge part of their lives to make music for us, the fans, letting us into their personal lives in the process. You should be happy and thankful that they did that much and for the last 6 years.
Fans need to also be more fair and understanding. While Liam has been getting a lot of support for his new endeavors, Zayn was and probably still is receiving threats and being attacked for leaving. He was attacked for having a f**king anxiety attack! I mean really?! I know the boys handle things differently but that’s because they are different people with different personalities.
Zayn (and probably the other boys) needs the validation and approval from his fans. He knows how important his fans are and that he wouldn’t be where he is without them. But the same time, those fans can end him and his career. I am worried about him and that he will let all the negativity overwhelm him, increase his anxiety, and make him completely shut down. Then we will have no more beautiful art or music from him. Don’t do that to him and don’t do that to the other boys who appreciate the love and support they have received over the years from you guys.
