6 K-Artists New Solo Projects I’m Loving Right Now!

This is basically Part 1(ish) of me catching up on new music. After being out with Covid and getting re-adjusted at work, I didn’t have the time or energy to work on blog things. But I’ve been listening to a lot of this new music while working, and gradually taking notes on everything. And with all of the cool stuff I have in the drafts right now, I think I am in a good place to start posting and scheduling things 😊

For this post, I will be sharing some of my favorite solo K-Pop/ K-Hip Hop, and K-R&B artists who have dropped new music recently…

Fatou Drops First Mixtape!

Fatou is a Senegalese singer and model under DR Music. She had joined a modeling agency before being noticed by her current agency and becoming a trainee. In 2020 Fatou was introduced as the fourth member of the new girl group BLACKSWAN. The group debuted later that year with the album Goodbye RANIA.

Check out my blog post about the group and that album below…

But now, Fatou has made her solo debut with a new mixtape called PWAPF (Psycho with a Pretty Face). Those of us who are fans of her, know what she’s capable of as a rapper, so how amazing she sounds is no surprise. She continues to impress me with her sass and attitude on this mixtape, though. I love all sides of Fatou but am extremely proud of her for not holding back for this mixtape.

Jay B Releases New Single “Rocking Chair” under new Label!

So, in case you’re new or haven’t been paying attention, Jay B is one of my favorite people in the K-Pop (Got7 leader) and K R&B world. He recently left Jay Park’s label H1GHR Music and joined CDNZA Records. And the fans got this beautiful ballad called “Rocking Chair”. Plus, he will be releasing an EP soon, so I am looking forward to that as well!

BM Drops 2nd Single Album “Strangers”!

“Strangers” has a futuristic, club/ dance, hip hop feel to it. I know that seems like a lot but it’s the best way to describe it, but it’s so catchy, and the visualizer for this track is so dope. The second track “Bad Intentions” does have that same Dance, Hip Hop vibe, but the lyrics for this one are a bit more “explicit”. I don’t mind it and I don’t feel like it crosses any lines, but it’s catered to older fans for sure.

PH-1 is “Mr. Bad” on New Single!

PH-1 has become one of my favorite K-Hip Hop artists and I could listen to his voice all day, every day. I love the chill R&B vibe on this song, and the hook is simple but catchy, of course. He does sing on this track as well, but what always gets me is his laid-back flow when he’s rapping. He also collaborated on this one with K-rapper Woo, who, I feel, is a good fit.

Gemini Drops New Single “1,2,3”!

Nice to hear from one of my other favorites, K-R&B artist Gemini. I’ve always really loved his overall vibe, and his voice was something I never expected when I first started listening to him. This new song “1,2,3”, which features BIG Naughty, is a slower tempo R&B song. The hook is my favorite, mainly because of the emphasis he puts on the numbers while singing.

Balming Tiger New Single “Sexy Nukim” Featuring RM!

I have heard of Balming Tiger but have to admit that the only reason I listened to this track was because of RM. BTS or not, RM is a very talented when it comes to being a lyricist, songwriter, and producer. His tone and delivery are something I have always loved and respected about him. Other than RM, Balming Tiger recruited Omega Sapien, WNJN & Mudd the Student.

It took me a couple of listens to really form an opinion on this track. But, I can honestly say that I really like it. The song is very laid back and almost slow tempo but with a funky beat to it. But it’s worth a listen, and don’t forget to check out the video!
