MCM! Enter the World of Reggaeton with Nicky Jam

Today for my MCM… I am going to talk about someone a bit different. He is Reggaeton’s most prolific artists Nicky Jam (born Nick Rivera Caminero). The world, as well as myself, learned of Nicky Jam in spring 2015 when he debuted “El Perdon” (“Forgiveness”) featuring Enrique Iglesias. The song hit No. 1 on the Latin charts and crossed over to the pop charts. He is now one of the most dominating voices in the Hispanic market.

Nicky has collaborated over the years with a long list of performers, including superstars such as Daddy Yankee and RKM & Ken-Y, and he also released plenty of solo material as well, including popular albums such as Vida Escante (2004) and The Black Carpet (2007).

I remember when there was a Reggaeton explosion when it pretty much crossed over to mainstream in the 90’s and 00’s. I was a huge fan and still am. I was fans of Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, Tego Calderon, Pitbull, Sean Paul, etc… And I think I do remember seeing Nicky but not fully aware of who he was. I do not speak Spanish fluently but music translates all languages.

Nicky does have a hot single out called “With You Tonight (Hasta El Amanecer)” right now. I played it for someone yesterday and they looked at me like “Where has this been?” LOL.. I love sharing new music with people, especially you guys. I hope that if you aren’t familiar with Latino or Reggaeton music that you give it a chance.
