As a music blogger, who is constantly exploring new genres and cultures, it is rare when an artist pops up embodying exactly the kind of music you are looking for. This new artist ANE reached out to me recently and she is a combination of all of the music I have been listening to lately. I don’t know how the universe does it, but I am thankful for random connections like this. Keep reading if you want to get to know this Artist to Watch, ANE!
About ANE…
ANE (an acronym for “A New Era” and pronounced “Ann-nee”) Korean-American singer/ songwriter from New Jersey. She is said to represent the evolution of music, fashion, and art in the 21st century. She makes music that is subtle, yet heady and equally consuming. Her enchanting mystique shines through her hypnotic songwriting. And her sultry vocals pull you in over the unique blend of synth-pop and r&b/soul.
Raised in a strict, Korean-American home in New Jersey with no musical background, ANE grew up without a TV for the better half of her childhood. ANE still managed to find her way as a recording artist. She found inspiration from The Beatles, Stevie Wonder’s Hotter Than July, and TLC’s CrazySexyCool as a kid. ANE, with some classical training in college, grew into a singer/songwriter that embodies a sheer contrast of contemporary and vintage sounds.

I think this new era of songwriting that I am going through is very refreshing for me because I’m willing to take more risks lyrically, emotionally, and musically. I’ve been wanting to experiment with this kind of sound for a while and I am thrilled about finally being able to incorporate it into my music. I feel evolved, fresh, confident, and more developed as an artist and this song definitely represents the start of this evolution. – ANE
