WCW! Rihanna

Well, it’s Wednesday (Woman Crush Wednesday) and I want to do something a little different. I realized that I have not been showing much love to the females in music. I am a fan of a lot of female artists and trying to find more great, talented females to talk about.

So let’s start with one of my favorites right now… Singer/ Songwriter and Barbadian Princess Rihanna aka RiRi 🙂 I try to not give controversial females too much attention because that seems to be all most of them really are… Controversial with no substance. But there is just something about RiRi, so much more than what’s been in the news, that I just adore. And she’s just a Bad Ass!

I have been a fan of hers since her “Pon De Replay” days. She was young and you can tell she was still finding her voice a little bit. You can hear it now how much stronger her voice sounds, though. But, honestly, my favorite albums from her are Rated R (2009) and Unapologetic (2012). I don’t know if it’s because there was so much hurt and pain in those albums, but I just loved them and had them on replay for a while. I love her upbeat records too but her really emotional songs pull at my heart strings so I connected with them more.

Her latest album ANTI is great. At first i had to just sit through it all because I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. But once I started listening to it again, it hit me. I love this record! This is her 2ND #1 album (following Unapologetic) and her 1ST to spend more than 1 week at #1. The single that, I think, grabbed us all “Work” spent 4 weeks at #1. That song is catchy as hell and the video with Drake… Hotness!
