Happy Labor Day Peeps! I hope you are enjoying this long weekend most of us have been able to have. But I didn’t want to take a break from bringing you guys some new music.
From still listening to Futuristic (see previous MCM post) to bringing me to Devvon Terrell aka the Living Weirdo, they have both become my music obsession. Even though a lot of musicians are mixing things up, especially with artists that sing and rap, Futuristic and Devvon manage to bring a unique sound to their music. I love how their music is so playful and sexy while still being so meaningful.
Devvon is a super talented artist out of Brooklyn, NY and became popular from his many remixes and covers on Youtube. He dropped a couple of EPs in the last 2 years and recently came out with his 9 track EP The Renaissance this past Friday (Sept. 2nd). He has a mix of fun, upbeat songs along with some slower, smooth tracks for the ladies. It’ll definitely leave you wanting more of him.
And I will say that his cover/remix of Rihanna’s “Work” is what really caught my eye. Check it out below…
But check out his earlier EPs The Living Weirdo (2014), Weird Sexy Cool (2015), and his collab with Futuristic Coast to Coast (2015). His sound is definitely main-stream while still being raw and different from other artists making the same kind of music. I can’t help but hear a little Bryson Tiller in Devvon’s music but I am not comparing them to each other. He is definitely in his own lane and his talent will definitely take him far.
Also, Devvon is about to go on tour Futuristic. Check out their websites for more information. If I can catch one of the shows then you can bet I will go.
