Getting back to discovering new music and artists, my favorite part of doing this blog. It’s funny though, how many non K-Pop artists that I have found by following my favorite K-Pop artists LOL. But that’s what happened when I came across Conan Gray, who may end up with a mutual fan of his, V (Taehyung from BTS). But for now, let’s find out more about Conan and his debut album Kid Krow.
Let’s Get to Know Conan Gray…
Conan Gray is a young 20-something American singer-songwriter and social media personality. Apparently Conan started out on YouTube as a teenager, sharing vlogs and covers from his home in central Texas. He signed with Republic Records in 2018 and released his debut EP Sunset Season. This recent release, Kid Krow, is his debut studio album, came out back in March of this year.
This album made him the biggest US artist debut of 2020, due to it reaching number 5 on the Billboard 200. He is also one of the most streamed artists on Spotify. His lead single “Maniac” has already been certified Gold here in the US, and in Canada and Australia as of April. Now to just wait and see if a collab between him and BTS &/ or V will happen 🙂
To know what I’m talking about when it comes to Conan & V’s mutual respect for each other, spurring rumors of a collaboration, check the article below:

Kid Krow… My Thoughts!
So, ever since the first listen, this album has already became one of my favorites and will be added to the list of albums to listen to when I need to relieve my anxiety. It’s a very pop-rock centric album which has always been a sound I’ve loved since I was in junior high/ high school. I don’t listen to artists in this genre as much as I used to, but when I come across something like this, it brings all of those amazing emotions right back. I didn’t know what to expect but it’s some beautifully soft melodies, with lots of guitar and drumming, and I love it!
If I had to choose some of my favorite songs, though, I can name some. The first couple of songs, “Comfort Crowd” and “Wish You Were Sober” pulled me in right away. My favorite, though, has got to be “Maniac”. Something about it just caught my attention.
I also love “Fight or Flight” a lot, not just because of the sound of it but because the lyrics are so relatable. Like when he sings “I’d rather die than have to cry in front of you…” (right in the feels). “Affluenza” is another favorite, mainly because of how his voice flows on this one. This is another one where the lyrics caught my attention, basically talking about materialism.
