It Was All A Dream

Today I want to pay tribute to a Rap Icon… Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls aka The Notorious B.I.G. who was shot and killed on March 9th 1997.

We have lost so many young, talented musicians. I was just a kid when Biggie was popular and I was a huge fan of his music (along with Tupac Shakur). It may have been a lot to listen to at such a young age but my mom didn’t mind and I liked it (i had edited versions anyway lol). Then of course as I got older, I could really listen to it and feel what he was talking about. That decade for music, especially Rap/ Hip-Hop was full of talented artists.

Biggie debuted with his album Ready to Die in 1994 which documented his transition from drug dealer to rapper. As 1995 came to an end Biggie was one of music’s best-selling and most sought after artists.

He was about to release his 2nd album Life After Death before he was killed. But even after his death (like for many other artists now) several posthumously engineered duets were released. His music and legacy will continue to live on in his music as well as his influence on the young artists out now.

He may have not been the most attractive dude in the world. He even  rhymed about it in “One More Chance” saying “…Heart throb? Never! – Black and ugly as ever! However – I stay Coogi down to the socks…”… But his attitude and swag will never be duplicated.

If you just want a little reminder of his best songs, listen to his Greatest Hits album from 2007. It’s one of the best collections out with his music. This album will have you bouncing and swaying (classic 90’s lol) the whole time.

R.I.P Biggie… You are greatly missed…
