It’s a Vibe! Some Not-So Christmas Music to Set the Mood for the Holiday!

Happy Friday! I still can’t believe that Christmas is in a few days. I honestly don’t even know if I’m ready for it. I haven’t even been listening to Christmas music like I usually do to put myself into the spirit; maybe that’s why I didn’t do a Christmas post before now like I was planning to. Oh well, I am here to talk about some pretty great, not-so Christmas music to check out and hopefully set the mood this weekend (or any day).

All of the artists I am about to talk about actually made it so easy for me to write this post. I started listening to one, which led me to another, and so on. And I noticed that the music and overall vibe was very similar (not a bad thing). As always, they are actually all pretty different but the music they make is something I will always love and appreciate R&B/ Soul mixed with some current trending music styles.

Silas Drops 3 New Tracks!

So, just to remind you guys who Silas aka SODTP is… He’s a keyboardist/ writer/ singer/ etc… First saw him when he went on the Changes Tour with Will Singe and Alex Aiono. He’s pretty much been the homie since, and has come out with some pretty great music on his own. This time, he has come out with 3 new tracks within the last month or so.
The first one is a track with female artist Joey, who comes to us from Sydney, Australia. Her voice really does go well with Silas’ on their song “Audition”, so I’m not mad at all. The second track is one of Silas’ infamous instrumentals, which I always love. It’s definitely perfect to just chill and vibe to, or whatever you need it to be really. It’s classic R&B all day but Silas still adds his little unique flair to it.

I know I said that this would be “Not-so Christmas” songs but I had to give you at least one. And thanks to Silas and Kennyon Brown (who I talk about more, just keep reading) we get a pretty grown and sexy Christmas song to jam to. All you need to do is listen to Kennyon’s part and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about 😉 But it’s a fun and sexy R&B Christmas song that I have had on repeat most of the day today so I hope you guys check it out and enjoy it as much as I have.

Catching Up with Kennyon Brown!

I don’t have a big crazy bio or anything about Kennyon Brown but I definitely want to talk about him to you guys and focus on his music for sure. I heard of him because of Will Singe and Silas. Apparently, Kennyon is a part of some of the dope R&B music that’s coming out of Australia & working out of California as well; along with Will (@willsinge) and Donell Lewis (@donelllewismusic). Earlier this year, Donell and Kennyon released a project together called Legooo.

I remember seeing Will give them a shout-out about it but I never went to actually go and listen to it. Now that I have listened to it, I am kicking myself for waiting so long LOL. I am so in love with the whole album, every track. But I will say, when I got to track 4 “Talk to Me”, I really started to get into it. I’m not sure if it was the music itself or the catchy hook. Then pretty much every song after that had me obsessed.

“Luv Mi No Mo” and “Whine 4 Me” (featuring Kaye Stylez) make you want to get up and dance with its mix of R&B, Pop, and Island vibes. And I love how the last 4 songs are definitely on the softer side, for the ladies. I will always love songs like those but what I really dig is how the songs progress on the album. The vibe switches up as you listen but it makes sense, not giving you too much at one time. The album is a Bop, just trust me on this! 🙂

Introducing Landon Sears!

So, I don’t have a whole lot of background information to give you about Landon Sears either but that gives me a chance to focus on the music. I do know that he is from Nashville, TN which explains a lot, especially as far as his music is concerned. A mix of R&B, Blues, Jazz, and Hip Hop inspiration definitely shows in his music. His new album came out this week and is called Autumn Icarus by the way; which I think is a dope title.

I first heard about him on Twitter and like always, I didn’t really know what to expect or what kind of music I was going to get. And, again, I was pleasantly surprised. His voice and music is my go-to vibe when I want to just hang out and chill. I really do like this album and can’t pick a favorite song yet, but I will try to talk about a few of them to give you guys a good idea of what you’ll get when you listen to this album.

The first song that I heard was “Nobody Awake” which hits you with some funky horns right away. This song had me like “Oh snap! This is going to be good” LOL. He gives us some classic R&B/ Jazz music then adds this crazy Hip Hop element to it! Then I got a little Blackbear vibe with “B4 U Leave 4 LA” with a blend of R&B, a little auto-tune, and sexy vocals.

The verse that he opens up with and then goes into the smoothe vocals on “Shaken and Stirred” though! I’m still a little speechless about this song because I just wasn’t expecting this. We get more of the same kind of crazy verses in “Autumn Hourglass”, if not crazier. Dude is just so talented and in a class of his own at this point. Yea the vibe is similar to some artists that I listen to but the delivery is a bit different.

JYDN (Jayden Henry) Drops New Visual!

If you have kept up with me recently then you have heard me talk about Jydn before now. He is part of the STXRYTELLERS which includes Maurice Moore and Jeff Sanon. They are young and super-talented artists/ songwriters out of Ottawa, Canada. I am really looking forward to seeing and hearing what’s next from them in the New Year.

But back to this video for JYDN, which is actually for one of my favorite songs from his album Navy Blue, “IDNY” (I Don’t Know Why). It’s such a simple video but I really love the aesthetic for it. I still can’t believe how young he is and talented, making such fire classic R&B. This whole new R&B movement to get back to the old school ways, I love it. Check out the video below!
