New Music Alert! Kehlani

Happy Wednesday! I have some more new music for you guys! This particular post is a bit different for me though. I am about to talk about an artist that I haven’t exactly been a fan of while everyone else has been obsessing over her. I am not a hater or anything and I can respect her talent. I can also say that she is a beautiful girl and definitely bringing back that strong 90’s Female R&B vibe back. And for those of you who read my stuff, you know that I am a HUGE 90’s music fan, especially when it comes to R&B.

The only reason I can give about me not being a real fan of her is because I have a hard time jumping on something when EVERYBODY and their mama likes it and talks about it 24/7. I guess I don’t want to believe the hype only to be disappointed. That may sound stupid but that’s just how I am. I have to get into something or someone at my own time. I still haven’t really gotten into her like that but she’s been hard to ignore. The girl is everywhere and everyone wants to work with her. She has even worked with one of my faves, Zayn, and is supposed to have a song with him on her album. I do like their song “Wrong” on Zayn’s album Mind of Mine. And I am curious about what other music they have made together.

The Music

But now to the reason I am even doing this post. Kehlani has released 2 new songs within the last couple of weeks or so. The first one called “CRZY” which I am still getting a feel for. It’s more upbeat with a trap vibe to it. It’s not a bad song and I am feeling the lyrics but it’s just not my jam right now. It’ll probably grow on me soon though.

The second song “Distraction” is more my speed right now. It’s slower with a heavy beat. It definitely reminds me of my 90’s R&B… Like a Brandy, Monica, Aaliyah type song. They were and still are my favorite R&B singers so I am NOT comparing Kehlani to them at all because it’s too early for all of that, but the music and the melodies give off that same vibe. Their influence on her is very obvious, which is not a bad thing.

Final Thoughts!

I honestly hope I can become a fan of hers as she progresses and maybe lives up to all of the hype surrounding her. I look forward to more music from her though and maybe when she releases an EP, my mind may change, and I will be back on here to talk to you guys about it. Until then, enjoy the rest of your Hump Day and I will be back soon with more music 🙂
