5 New K-Pop Artists and Groups to Add to Your Playlist!

The last week or so of October gave us so much good music, and again, things are full speed ahead for November. My favorite’s Monsta X have a new album that I had been waiting for, and I even found some new groups and soloists to talk about. And I am still bracing for some other new music that I know will be coming out this month as well. But today, I want to shine a light on new groups/ artists, some that have recently debuted.

New Re-Branded Girl Group Black Swan Debuts

Black Swan is a 5-member girl group under DR Music (also known as DR Entertainment). The group consist of: Hyeme, Youngheun, Leia, Fatou, and Judy. The group debuted last month (October 16th) with their first full album Goodbye Rania. I love the fact that they have an African member, Fatou, who is Senegalese.

I wasn’t sure what kind of sound to expect from Black Swan and this album Goodbye Rania. They do stay true to the Pop/ Dance sound of most K-Pop girl groups, yet still sound “different”. I still find myself enjoying this album a lot and liking them a bit more than the other girl groups. And I am really excited to see more of them.

*Their lineup may be changing soon due to a legal situation with one of their member but I will keep you guys posted.

AleXa New Album DECOHERENCE

AleXa is an American born solo K-Pop artist under ZB Label and American label ICM Partners. She already struck me as different from some of the current popular girl groups and soloists, which had me curious. AleXa’s music is definitely Pop and Dance, but her sound hits a little harder, something I appreciate. It’s always been difficult for me to really into the “bubblegum”/ “cutesy” girl groups and singers.

A good example of one of AleXa’s powerful songs is “Villain”, which she also has an Instrumental for. Then you have “Revolution”, another hard-hitting pop track. She also has an English version and an Instrumental. Her song “Moon and Back” is so beautiful, as well as her voice, making this a favorite for me because it just stuck to me.

P1Harmony Debuts with EP Disharmony: Stand Out

I first heard of this group on Instagram by someone that I follow. The music video that she posted caught my attention, so I had to look them out and I found their new EP Disharmony: Stand Out. They are a 6-member boy group under FNC Entertainment, consisting of Keeho, Theo, Jiung, Intak, Soul, and Jongseob. “Siren” is the lead single, which is an impressing song.

They definitely give me NCT vibes, but that’s not a bad thing. Their music is more Pop/ Dance but there is a lot of rapping, and their “rappers” are pretty good. “That’s It” has more Hip-Hop elements to it and they went off on one of those verses. I am always here for a good slow tempo song, and “Butterfly” did not disappoint, giving more R&B and Hip-Hop elements than the others, which made this one an easy favorite.

Drippin’ First Mini Album [Boyager]

Drippin is debut group created by Woollim Entertainment. The group currently consists of 7 members: Hyeop, Yunseong, Changuk, Dongyun, Minseo, Junho, and Alex. And 6 out of 7 members were first revealed during the talent survival show Produce X 101. I never watched the show in full but was familiar with it and drama around it, but after hearing this album, I am pleasantly surprised by them.

Drippin’s music is also very up-tempo Pop/ Dance focused. Their song “Shine” on the other hand, adds some Hip Hop and impressive verses, turning things up a bit. Things really don’t slow down much, even once you get to the last two tracks. I really do like “Colors”, though.

New Music from GEMINI

This is going to be a little different because I know next to nothing about this particular artist, GEMINI. And I don’t even remember how I came to find him, probably on Instagram, though. What I do know is that I love his voice on his latest Going – Single that includes two songs, “Going” and “Broken Love”. I wouldn’t really classify him as “K-Pop”; he definitely reminds me of some of my favorite more R&B oriented Korean artists, like DEAN.

But GEMINI can be found on Apple Music and Spotify. He is also featured on Jay Park’s latest H1GHR Music collaboration project. The song that he is on, is called “Champagne Diet” from the Blue Tape. He also has videos for both songs on his latest release.
