I want to go in a more “Pop” direction so we’ll see how this goes 🙂
Today I want to talk about Meghan Trainor and her new album Thank You. Now, before I talk about this new album, let me say that I did jump on the bandwagon when she came out with “All About That Bass” and I loved it. But after the radio played it out like always, I got tired of it and didn’t want to hear it again. And I felt the same about “Lips Are Movin'”. Don’t get me wrong, I loved her voice, it was just the songs and style they were done in.
I was and still am a fan of her song “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” with John Legend. It’s a beautiful song and her voice is angelic on it. But, when it comes to that album Title, I am not a fan of it. That being said, I was hesitant about her new material on Thank You. Even though she kind of shut the game down with “No”, the ultimate girl anthem, especially her performance of it on the iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Thank You… My Review
Now, this album is great. It is nothing like the other album. It’s still a very pop-oriented album but with more Funk and less Doo-Wop elements to it. Her voice fits this style so much better, I think.
I was surprised by her collab with Yo Gotti for “Better” but they are perfect together on this song. Gotti isn’t as harsh as he usually is and Meghan’s vocals bring a little more of a R&B feel to it. It just works.
And OMG her song “Mom” is amazing! Most songs about my mother make me cry but this just makes me smile and remember her the way I should. It’s a fun, up-beat song, not slow and depressing. This is definitely the perfect mom dedication song. It’s simply beautiful.
This album is full of girl power anthems, songs about family, relationships, and life. I will definitely use this when I need some positive energy and motivation to get up and get going (which has been a lot lately). Meghan’s Thank You is a must listen! Hope you guys check it out and enjoy it as much as I did.
