Music Review: Welcome to Club Tonica

It’s that time again! Time for me to introduce you guys to some new music! And today, I am going to be telling you guys about an up and coming rapper named Rob Teezy or Rob Teezy on the track as many seem to know him. He actually reached out to me on Twitter so of course I had to check out his music. Earlier this month he released his debut EP Welcome to Club Tonica. Here is a little bit about Rob and his anticipated release (courtesy of Rob Teezy & AIR to the Throne Entertainment):

Rob Teezy Releases Debut EP – “Welcome to CLUB TONICA”

The new Pop/Hop bounce is the BEST signature sound since Fetty Wap

Young up-and-coming artist and record producer, Rob Teezy on da Track announced the release of his debut EP Welcome to CLUB TONICA. Inspired by creative flows, catchy hooks and futuristic beats, this mix of catchy melodies will have you hooked on this new style of Pop/Hop bounce music. Teezy has created a unique sound and style of his own that rocks the clubs and move audiences to their feet. Teezy is here to prove that he is one of the elite independent artists of this new generation, a rare talent that has that fresh style and sound to match his beats. In every track that he produces, he sprinkles different seasonings of creativity with his signature master potion.

Rob Teezy is a 23 year old producer turned artist that expresses emotion through melodies & rhythm. He gained his inspiration and motivation from producers such as Dr. Dre, Mannie Fresh, Drumma Boy & Jermaine Dupri. He also played multiple instruments including the piano throughout middle school and high school. As Teezy grew older, he took advantage of his poverty stricken background to push him to great in all aspects of his life. His love for music taught him extremely important life lessons such as persistence, patience, and practice to plan for perfection.

Today, Rob Teezy on da Track consistently releases music that is revolutionary to the industry today, comparable to Lil Wayne’s single Lollipop and even BETTER than Fetty Wap. He creates his own beats, writes and records the lyrics and has created his own style of music called Pop/Hop bounce. Rob Teezy is primed before his time with the most catchy dance songs that will take over the nation!

My Official Review

This was honestly difficult for me to form a review for. I only say that because, even though the purpose of Rob Teezy’s music is to create this genre he calls Pop/Hop, I am not a big fan of auto-tune tracks. I mean, I don’t mind it on a few songs here and there, and I was a fan of T-Pain and Lil Wayne. But, using it as the overall sound for an artist is hard for me to wrap my head around at this particular time in music.

I guess for me, maybe if he would’ve spread the auto-tune more throughout the songs. With the EP being only 8 tracks, it can be just a snippet into the overall sound that he is going for. I will say this, though, the track “Wonderland” does give me Lil Wayne “Lollipop” vibes which isn’t a bad thing. Also, the horns at the end of “Wonderland” is actually pretty dope. It gave the song a little more dimension by adding a different musical element.

I do not feel like this one album will define him as an artist. He has a long journey ahead of him and a lot of time to learn what he wants to do and can do as an artist. The fact that he wants to create a new sound, a new genre, is admirable. I will continue to follow him so I can see where his musical journey takes him.

As many of you have probably learned about me through my posts, I am a fan of all genres. I love learning about new artists and their music. Of course I do have my favorites, old school and new. Nowadays, though, I tend to gravitate more towards the musicians who can do everything themselves, from the writing to the actual production. In that sense, I definitely respect and appreciate Rob Teezy for being able to do that at a young age. Just know that this is only my opinion and I really do want you guys to check out his music and let me know what you think. Do you like this genre of music?
